Display technology continues to upgrade. In order to get rid of price competition, panel makers in South Korea and Taiwan have actively switched to OLED, Mini/Micro LED, and other display technology layouts in recent years.

Samsung recently announced that it will launch 110-inch Micro LED TVs in the first quarter of this year, leading the market. Entering the Micro LED era, but from the perspective of price, the cost of Micro LED is still high at this stage, and the products are targeted at high-end customers. Therefore, the real mass production of future products still depends on the price.

According to industry sources, at this stage, Micro LED can enter the mass production stage, but the cost price is still several times higher than that of LCD. From the observation that Samsung recently launched a 110-inch Micro LED TV with a price of up to 170 million won, it is obvious that Micro LED costs are still quite expensive.

In recent years, Taiwanese LED and panel manufacturers have focused on the research and development of Mini/Micro LED technology, instead of focusing on the Korean OLED market, which occupies half of the market. It is understood that the biggest factor to LED products is from the start-up company PlayNitride.

Suntron focuses on the development of Micro LED technology. In recent years, it has successfully launched 1-2″ wearable applications, 7.56″ transparent displays, 9.4″ high-resolution flexible displays, and Pixe LED Matrix large-scale seamless splicing displays, leading the market into the next display technology era, And observing its main shareholders, in addition to the management team, Samsung Group and LED factory Jingdian each hold about 20% of the shares, and panel factory AUO also holds shares.

Li Yunli, CEO of Tichuang, said recently that Micro LED technology has advantages in wearable devices, automotive, AR/VR, TV, and other products, but the current development key is still cost and commercialization. It is estimated that with the development of technology, the cost of Micro LED will drop by 95% within five years. There will be a chance to gradually penetrate the low-end market from the high-end market in 2025.

The Optoelectronics Association of Research and Research Institute also estimates that due to the high price of Micro LED, it will be difficult for manufacturers in the next 3-5 years. Will make a more obvious contribution.

Although Taiwanese manufacturers seem to be one step behind the Korean factory in Micro LED, Samsung’s first 110-inch Micro LED TV is targeted at high-end customers. It can only be regarded as a touchstone for Micro LED products. Market feedback is still waiting for market feedback. Taiwanese factory layout is also proceeding simultaneously.

Among them, including Jingdian and Longda completed the share exchange to establish Fucai Investment Control, AUO also cooperated with Suntron to develop a 9.4-inch Micro LED display to lock in the automotive market. The benefits are expected to gradually ferment in the next 1-2 years.
