In order to seize the MicroLED business opportunities, American digital signage supplier STRATACACHE announced that it will build the first MicroLED display screen production line (E4) in Eugene, Oregon, USA, to produce products for its own products and solutions. MicroLED display screens are expected to start mass production during 2022-2023.
According to a foreign media MicroLED info report, in order to produce MicroLED, STRATACACHE acquired a 1.5 million square foot factory in March 2020; Hynix Semiconductor used to produce storage based on 200mm wafers in this factory. Wafer.
At the same time, this factory is about 100 kilometers away from Intel Hillsboro’s factory and R&D base, and has more than 20,000 employees, and STRATACACHE hopes to attract relevant talents.
The report pointed out that STRATACACHE regards E4 as its first MicroLED factory in the United States and will supply component-level products and complete display screen products to third-party customers; and STRATACACHE is currently looking for partners and suppliers in the United States and around the world. More factories will be built in the United States and other parts of the world.
It is reported that E4 is a complete MicroLED production line, from epi wafer (Epi Wafer) to transfer process, and then to the final module assembly; and has more than 120,000 square feet of Class 1 clean room, and more than 400,000 square feet Feet of 1-1,000-level clean room space. The annual production capacity is expected to jump from 1 million square meters.
The report revealed that STRATACACHE plans to start the production of MicroLED epitaxial wafers by October 2021, and is expected to adopt the GaN-on-Silicon process to produce MicroLED products on 300mm silicon wafers.
In the future, MicroLED products will cover flat panels to large-size display screens. At the same time, optimistic about the future development of the flexible and transparent display market, STRATACACHE also plans to produce flexible and transparent MicroLED display screens.
